Why work with Jillian?

I am located in several fully equipped studios around Los Angeles as a convenience to my clients. My programs are designed in a way that will make you feel and look good, while also helping you avoid the common injuries that often develop over time from faulty movement patterns and poor postural habits. These techniques can be applied to everyday life and translate easily into other physical activities. From professional athletes seeking injury prevention training or rehab, dancers interested in improving their technique or individuals seeking improved core and overall strength, my private sessions and specialized programs are tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.

I have studied anatomy and kinesiology at university level, which has given me a true understanding of how Pilates aligns with proper biomechanics. My extensive experience in different movement practices, as well as somatic and manual therapy techniques has allowed me a special ability to accurately locate areas of focus for each individual client past what they would be able to assess on their own, keep you moving and feeling great as you strengthen and tone.

It is my personal goal as a practitioner to help you achieve optimal health holistically. Providing you with the tools you need to meet your ideal fitness and wellness  goals. For this reason I am also available to provide insight, practitioner referrals, and informative resources regarding nutrition and other health practices that can compliment your exercise regimen.

My Background:

I am a professional dancer and have been certified in Pilates since 2009. My B.F.A. and M.A. are in choreography, which seamlessly translates in its practical application as the art of teaching movement.  I incorporate release techniques based in Alexander and Franklin method, and have recently been certified in MyoFascial stretching to expand my practice. I attribute the longevity of my dance career to the Pilates method. It provides a foundation superior to other movement practices due to its specificity, versatility, and complete alignment with the science of the body.

My teaching career has given me a lot of experience working alongside physical therapists. This education has made me recognize my strength in balancing musculature and correcting posture. The use of specific personal corrections allow the body to open and reorganize into perfect alignment, what allow all your core muscles to work synergistically. By pushing the Pilates practice further through my understanding of proper biomechanics, you will not only get a great workout, but gain education on healthy movement patterns. It is this way of teaching that gives my clients results as well as a more engaged sense of control over their physical health. I provide them with the tools they need to manage their own body over time to sustain physical health, ease of movement, and longevity.
